New Orleans for Mom's Graduation

A few years ago my dad moved to New Orleans for work which left my mom in Utah  by herself.  After a while she got sick of living by herself and my dad was sick of commuting so she decided to go live there with him.  Since my mom is not the type of person that can sit around for very long, she decided to get her masters in social work from Tulane.  So for the last year and a half my mom has been crazy busy with school, field work, and traveling to India.

My sisters and I flew out for her graduation and to experience New Orleans.  We had a great time and it was so fun to see my mom walk across the stage after working so hard.  New Orleans is one of the most random places I have ever been, but it was incredible to explore the city.  And I'm so proud of my mom!

All the girls

After mom's graduation.  She was so cute in her cap and gown.

Cafe Du Monde...best beignets ever!

My dad lives for these.

Attempting to eat my first oyster...not too bad as long as you cover it with enough horseradish and cocktail sauce!

Celebration dinner.  Sisters.

The last night we were there it rained so hard it started to flood....we couldn't leave the complex!

A house in the Lower 9th Ward.  There were so many like this, it was so sad.  Humbling experience.

Brad Pitt's projects in the  Lower 9th Ward.  Many more like this.

Everything is above ground since they can't dig too deep, a tad creepy, but some of the tombs (or whatever they are called) were amazing

And I didn't take any pictures of the homes, but there are some of the most incredible, beautiful homes I have ever seen!  There is so much history behind all of them, it's amazing.

I know I have been a horrible blogger, but since we don't have any babies our life just isn't that exciting, but I will try.
Thanksgiving in California....not only did we have an amazing dinner, but we were able to eat outside since the weather was so amazing!

After dinner, forgot to take some of our beautiful table arrangements that Mike's cousin created!

A little turkey trot with Sherri...who set a PR for her 5K.

A trip to Disneyland on probably the most crowded day of the year...day before Thanksgiving (at least that I have ever been)

Just one more vacation....

Here are a couple of pictures from our recent getaway to The Bahamas. We had a great time relaxing on the beach, snorkeling, swimming with sharks, adventures at The Atlantis water park, and lots of RELAXATION!

And We're Back

Mike and I had the most hectic month of August ever. We were gone for a full 30 days driving from Utah to Orange County to Los Altos to Chico back to Los Altos to Carmel, back to Orange County and finally back to Utah! We drove over 5500 miles and I have never been more excited to sleep in my own bed. We had a great time spending a week in Carmel with my family to spending time with Mike's in Orange County. It was a crazy month, and we leave again in a week and a half for the Bahamas! We are crazy. It's been major play time at least until Mike's deal closes.....Here are a couple pictures from our adventures.

Tad Late

Just a fun couple pictures that my cousin took of Mike and I on the 4th of July. We had a great day with my cousin and her husband, had lots of fun swimming, and enjoyed fireworks off my grandparents balcony overlooking all of Salt Lake. And I have to say I was very impressed with my flag cake!

Golfing

On a whim my parents decided it would be fun to go up the canyon and spend the evening golfing with Mike, Lauren, my aunt and uncle, my grandpa and me. It sounded like a good idea, but it took us almost 3 hours to play 7 holes! We were the slowest group ever recorded on a golf course but we had lots of fun!

Seriously?

Since we have moved to Salt Lake, Mike and I have spent every second we can with my cousin Caitlin and her husband Brig. It's been so fun living close to them and discovering how much fun we have with together! Mike and Brig have also discovered how much alike they are. Not only are they both obsessed with golf, but they decided to get matching outfits to display their love. (For the game and for each other, and also notice their matching beards. Caitlin and I are a little worried). And of course our fun has to come to an end way too soon...only a couple more weeks before they leave us for Dubai!
